MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO

Here is a mural with a twist. A smiling orangutan swings on a rope that provides a backdrop for show and tell. This special display alternates between hanging baby cards, special toys, photographs or a child’s artwork. Its versatility leaves plenty of room to stimulate a child’s development. But as opposed to simply being an accessory to the room, it has become an integral part of the mural – the baby orangutan appears to swing from the rope!

Everything here is painted low, at a child’s height, to make him feel comfortable in this Borneo jungle. The leafy green border provides movement and life for the room, with its long swirling leaves and its small hidden insects. This border can be seen throughout the room, joining two other murals on the adjacent wall: Giraffe Coming out of a Wall and An Elephant’s Work is Never Done.
