Welcome to a whimsical world where giraffes can extend their necks out of plaster walls. It’s true; you can pet this giraffe, kiss it and even brush its hair. And when the baby is put into his crib, he stares up towards the ceiling and sees two smiling faces looking down at him, that of his loving mother or father and that of a tender giraffe.
This sculpture hangs securely attached to a pillar in the same room as An Elephant’s Work is Never Done and Monkey See, Monkey Do murals. The giraffe’s body is painted on the pillar, whereas its head, made of lightweight papier-maché, extends completely out of the wall.
