Subtle blues and simple organic patterns create the illusion of life in the sea. Even the curtain, dyed and painted with textile paints in the same blues, gently continues the pattern of the room and creates an inviting place to play with sea creatures. Complete with detachable finger puppets, the curtain acts as a kind of harbor from which toddlers can “fish” or play peekaboo.
A good quality household paint was used for this project, because the wall surface was large enough to merit it. Unfortunately, the mural was photographed before it was finished and the picture represents only a small portion of the patterning. The overall effect of the mural must live in the imagination of the reader.
