SAVANNAH BREEZE

In this charming savannah, animals come and go, swim or simply rest under a warm orange glow. A staring buck, a playful antelope, a curious zebra and even a bathing hippopotamus have invited us into their world. But a mother and baby elephant are leaving the scene. On the other wall, a young lion daydreams on top of a tuff rock. In the foreground sits a large giraffe, smiling as her bandy legs make standing up a difficult task, not unlike the first steps of a toddler. The sun is left white in these pictures, but a circular night lamp will cover it and provide ambient lighting at sundown.

Since the parents had already bought their daughter’s furniture in orange and natural browns, we worked within this colour scheme to achieve a harmonious look. With a baby boy on the way, such gender-neutral colours were appropriate. The mural was designed to eventually accommodate superimposed beds, with the lower one against the mural wall and the higher one perpendicular to it. In the future the baby lion will rest next to the child sleeping in the higher bed.
